Martha Ann's interest in art began at an early age growing up on a farm she developed a love for nature and an imagination to express herself with drawing and painting. Martha Ann attended school in Gatlinburg, Tennessee and Atlanta, Georgia. She has studied under several renowned artists.
She paints in oil, acrylic, pastel, ink, and watercolor; however, she excels in her chosen medium of watercolor, glass painting and kiln firings. Her glass paintings adorn many churches in the southern United States.
Martha Ann has participated in juried & small group shows, including two "solos" in 1992 and 1998. Her watercolor "Apple Country" painting was chosen for the cover of the cover of the Ellijay, Georgia phone directory. Martha has operated her own studio "Colors of Cohutta" since 1990. Her paintings are in private collections throughout the United States, England, Ireland, and Italy.
Martha's studio is located at the Talking Turkey Studios operated by Martha & her husband John. The Talking Turkey is part of the Gatlinburg Arts and Crafts Association.
